Short Bio

Professor Olufunsho Abayomi Omobitan is a professor of Economics in the Department of Economics, Lagos Stat University. His Area of specialisation is development Economics and also interested in Public Sector Economics. Omobitan was Head of Department several times from 1992 – 1994, 1994 – 1998, 2011 – 2012, 2012 – 2014, and 2016 – 2018. He was the coordinator of Lagos State University prestigious Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme between 1998- 2004. Omobitan was educated at the University of Vienna, Vienna-Austria where he got his M. Sc. and Ph.d degrees in Economics. He has participated in many seminars, workshops, conferences and committees among which are: • Workshop on ‘Cross Border Trade’ jointly organised by National Institute of Agronomical Research, Department of Rural Economy and Sociology, Montpellier-France and Institute for research and Applied Method for Development in Montpellier-France held in Cotonou, Benin Republic in 1995. • Seminar on Practical Approach to Revenue Generation problem NS SOLUTION IN Lagos State Government Councils Organised by Lagos State Ministry of Economics Planning in 1998. • Participated in the Urban Informal sector and Industrial Development Group in the 3rd Lagos State Economic Summit with focus on Lagos Mega City and the challenges of Economic Development in 2007. • Participated in the Draft Document of State Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (SEEDS) for Lagos State in 2005. • He has published extensively in reputable Local and International Journals.
