PROF SETONJI NOEL ADEOYE

(Head of Department)

HOD's Welcome Address

The Department started as Physical Education and Sports Unit under the Curriculum Studies Department in 1984.  At inception the Unit started with five academic staff and awarding both the diploma and degree certificates.  In 1986, the unit was upgraded into a full Department with the nomenclature changing to Department of Physical and Health Education.  The Department has produced quality graduates amongst who are now lecturers.  The Department has a lot of programs for the total wellness of the students in line with a robust curriculum, such as, the “Sport Clinic” where students are expected to practice the skills that were taught in class.  Lecturers and other associate staff supervise this program.  The motto of the Department is “Keep Fit”, Stay Healthy” aptly describes the efforts of the staff in producing graduates that can hold their own in the labor market. The Department at present has two recognized units i.e. Physical and Health Education Unit and the Health Education Unit, which came into existence as a result of the desire to produce enough manpower to service the health sector across different layers of organizations in Lagos State and the nation at large. One of the landmark achievement of the Department is the development of star athletes year round for the University, State and the national teams.
