AN OVERVIEW OF THE DIRECTORATE

The Directorate of Information & Communication Technology Centre of Lagos State University (LASU-ICTC), was established during the reign of Professor L. A. Hussein as Vice-Chancellor in December, 2006. The framework for the Centre was done by the ICT committee that was set up in October 2005 and headed by Prof. Todonu Amosu which handed over to Prof. Tunde Fatunde. The work of this committee led to the establishment of the Centre in December, 2006. The Centre, under the superintendence of a Director started operation with five (5) basic units: Registry, Web services, System Support/Hardware, Networking and ID card units. With a view for more effective delivery to the ever-increasing services, the Centre now operate under nine (9) different units: Registry, Web services, Hard Ware, System support, Training & Development, Networking, Data Management & ID Card, Application Development & Web Management and Help Desk. To date, the Centre can proudly say that all LASU E-solutions were in-house developed and managed by LASU-ICTC.

To equip members of the University community (Students, Academic and Non-Academic staff), with requisite ICT skills and infrastructures that will enable them to carry out their requisite functions effectively and to the highest standards in accordance to the global best practices; and to create a suitable and healthy learning atmosphere suffused with technological innovations that will ensure well-bred graduates that can creatively communicate and function well in any informed society and work place.

I warmly welcome you to the Directorate of Information Communications Technology of the Lagos State University (DICT), the Citadel of learning and Africa Centre of Excellence in the Centre of Excellence. The DICT Centre has undergone a monumental and developmental transformation during this current Fagbohun-led administration by creating an enabling environment for the Centre to flourish.

ICT UNITS

The centre started with 4 official units but now divided into nine (9) units


DICT Web Service Unit deploys application developed for the university and work hand-in-hand with the application development unit

Captures all bio data of university staffs and students and produces identity cards for staffs and students.

Designs and maintains local area and wide area networks, designs and implements access to the internet, and maintains network security integrity.

Handles installation and maintenance of software related issues for the university community, including antivirus.

Repairs and maintains computer systems; and is also involved in the deployment and installation of softwares.

This unit is involved in the administrative day-to-day running of the centre. It handles all administrative and welfare related issues of the Center

Resolve ICT related issues, resolve student and staff complaints and enquires

Directly responsible for training of staff, managing and conducting Computer Based Test for staff and students

Responsible for the development of software solutions towards the need of the university and as well manages the university website.

DICT STAFF
