Topic: Legality Of The Use Of Drones Under International Law
Description:
There's a lingering controversy among international law scholars on the legality of the use of drones for distant targeting. The controversy is not whether drones are legal weapons of warfare, but whether drones can be used against targets in non-war zones.
I'm interested in researching on this controversy, especially because drones are now the preferred weapon of warfare, because of its cost-effectiveness, accurateness and lack of military casualties.

Legality of the Use of drones under international Humanitarian law
There's a lingering controversy among international law scholars on the legality of the use of drones for distant targeting. The controversy is not whether drones are legal weapons of warfare, but whether drones can be used against targets in non-war zones.
I'm interested in researching on this controversy, especially because drones are now the preferred weapon of warfare, because of its cost-effectiveness, accurateness and lack of military casualties.
My research when completed will contribute to the understanding of the legality of the use of drones under international law. Specifically the responsibilities of a superior officer when authorizing a drone strike, and the necessary precautions to be taken.
My methodology will be a mixed method of the qualitative and quantitative. I will examine the primary and secondary sources of the laws regulating the use of drones, and i will also access the opinion of experts in security and drone technology.
