RELATIONSHIP CURRENCY AND EMPLOYEES’ COMMITMENT AMONG SELECTED STAFF OF LAGOS STATE OWNED TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS IN NIGERIA
Employees working in the organization cannot operate in isolation, the same applies to organizations. they need to associate (network) with other employees either formally or informally to be able to perform functions effectively and efficiently. This social and official association also rubs off on the commitment of the employee positively or negatively. the study objective is to evaluate the effect of relationship currency on employee commitment in tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The cross-sectional survey design was utilized, while the study population was the entire staff of Lagos State-owned tertiary institutions (both academic and non-academic) with a sample size of 329. Primary data was gotten through the questionnaire. The findings of the regression analysis revealed that relationship currency has a significant effect on employee commitment of staff of Lagos State-owned Tertiary institutions. The recommendation based on the findings is that management should continue to allow enabling environment that fosters social relationships among employees inter-department/unit and intra-department/unit in the organization, as this will increase the level of commitment by employees to the organization
