Board Configuration and financial performance of some selected deposit money banks on the NSE
Research in ProgressThe study will investigate Board Configuration and Financial performance of some selected Deposit money Banks DMBs in Nigeria. To ensure stable profitable operations of DMBs in Nigeria banks should adhere to regulatory guidelines set by law, so as to secure the confidence of the depositors. It is equally important to establish effective corporate governance so as to increase investor s confidence in the financial sector. This is why Nigeria government and its agencies are focusing on improving board configuration within the banking sector to enhance governance practice. The forgoing is the motivation behind the study with a view to looking into the connections between Board configuration and the bottom line of the DMBs in Nigeria. The sampling techniques that will be employed is a subjective one. Panel data analysis will be used in analyzing the data. Secondary data will be collected from the financial statements of the respective banks. Ten DMBs listed on the Nigerian stock exchange will be selected. The period of coverage will be 2015 to 2024. The study will make use of descriptive statistics like mean, standard deviation, minimum and maximum to draw conclusion. The suitable regression analysis will be used after conducting Hausman test. A priori expectation of the analysis is that Directors ownership will have a positive significant effect on financial performance.
