Prof Solomon Olanrewaju Makinde teaches in the Department of Language, Arts and Social Science Education, Faculty of Education, Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos. He has been a member of RAN since 2007 and has been regular at Conferences and Workshops in Nigeria and in PALFA Conferences. He is the Lagos State Chairman and National Vice President of the Reading Association of Nigeria (RAN), he has served as a former National Secretary of RAN (2014-2016). He is a prominent member of the International Literacy Association and African Language Teachers Association (ALTA), USA. He is the South –Western Co-Ordinator of the Association for Promoting Nigerian Languages and Culture (APNILAC) and also a member of the Egbe Akomolede Yoruba, Nigeria and Yoruba Studies Association of Nigeria. He is the Vice President of the International Association of Language Educators. He has attended and presented papers at learned Conferences and Workshops in many major cities in Nigeria and in countries like America, Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. He has published extensively (having over seventy publications) in both local and international learned journals. He is a keen researcher in Yoruba (Mother-Tongue) Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Language Policy, Language Literacy, Literature and Culture. He was the pioneer Assistant Director of Lagos State University, Badagry Campus (2006-2010). He served as Head of Department, Language, Arts and Social Science Education, and the Faculty of Education (2016 – 2019), Representative on the Board of Postgraduate School, Lagos State University. He is the Chairman, Quality Control Committee of Postgraduate School, Lagos State University. He is currently the Chairman, Curriculum Committee of Senate, Lagos State University. He is a Consultant (Reading Advisor) to USAID/Creative Associates International Inc on Yoruba Early Grade Reading and Writing Materials Development (Materials Development Workshop By Virtual Workshop). He is the Regional General Secretary, Association of Visiting Secretaries, Faith City Regional Services of Apostolic Faith Church and the Chaplain, Crawford University, Nigeria.
