Structural change and employees' Quality of Service in Quoted Insurance Companies in Nigeria
The study examined structural change and employee's quality of service in quoted insurance companies in Nigeria. The main objective of this study is to examine the effect of structural change on employee's quality of service in quoted insurance companies in Nigeria. The study adopted survey research design. The
population of the study comprised of four thousand, eight hundred and
twenty-two (4,822) employees of all 23 quoted insurance companies in Nigeria. The
sample size of four hundred and eighty (480) was used to represent the target
population. The respondents were selected using a multi-stage sampling
technique. This comprised of stratified and purposive sampling techniques. The
research instrument used was adapted questionnaire that was developed by
previous researchers and it was structured into three sections. The research
instrument was validated using content validity. The questionnaire was
considered reliable because the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient reliability result
of structural change was 0.718 and employee’s quality of service was 0.725
which are greater than 0.7. The stated hypothesis was tested using regression
analysis. The study revealed that structural change exerts negative and
statistically insignificant (beta = -0.0851, P-value = 0.2090 < 0.05) effect
on employees’ quality of service. However, this study concluded that structural
changes enable service organisation including insurance industry to have a
common views and mission. Thus, a well-functioning organisational structure is
important for any organisation going through changes. The study therefore
recommended that the change in which employees are involved should be closely
related to their own work environment
