Topic: Yoruba Literature, Culture And Communication Arts

Description: My research interests cut across Yoruba literature, culture, and communication arts. I have assessed how Yoruba literature, particularly drama and film, problematizes contemporary issues in an effort to address these challenges for the sustainable development of society, with a particular focus on conflict resolution. Additionally, I am concerned with the significance of Yoruba cultural paraphernalia in addressing societal malaises and abnormalities. Communication is sine-qua-non to language, culture, and literature; hence, I am currently exploring the forms and functions of the non-verbal Yoruba indigenous communication system in films.

Àṣà Yorùbá láyé àtijọ́ fi àwọn obìnrin sí ọwọ́ ẹ̀yìn nínú dídi ipò adarí tàbí ipò òṣẹ̀lú mú, pàápàá jùlọ níbi tí a bá ti rí àwọn ọkùnrin. Ipò àti ojúṣe àwọn obìnrin láwùjọ Yorùbá sábà máa ń dá lórí ipa wọn nínú ilé gẹ́gẹ́ olùtọ́jú ilé, ọmọ àti ọkọ. Èyí wà ní ìbámu pẹ̀lú àrògún àti àròjinlẹ̀ ẹ̀yà yìí bí ó ṣe hàn nínú òwe, àṣamọ̀ àti ìṣe wọn lórísiríṣi. Nípa báyìí, àwọn obìnrin Yorùbá kì í bìkítà láti yọjú sípò adarí tàbí láti fẹ́ kópa ìṣèlú nínú àwùjọ wọn. Àmọ́ ṣá, nínú ìtàn àwùjọ náà àwọn obìnrin méjì kan wà tí wọ́n kọ̀ láti jẹ́ kí àṣà Yorùbá rìn wọ́n mọ́lẹ̀. Wọ́n kópa tó lápẹrẹ nínú ìṣẹ̀lú, bẹ́ẹ̀ sì ni wọ́n lẹ́nu ọ̀rọ̀ níbi tí àwọn ọkùnrin náà bá ri ń sọ̀rọ̀. Àwọn obìnrin méjì yìí ni; Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti àti Ẹfúnróyè Tinubu. Iṣẹ́ ìwádìí yìí tọpinpin ojúṣe àwọn obìnrin láwùjọ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ó ṣe hàn nínú fíìmù Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti àti eré-onítàn àpilẹ̀kọ Ẹfúnróyè Tinubu.Ó ṣe àfihàn ipa ríbiribi tí wọ́n kó nínú ìlọsíwájú àwùjọ, bó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé ó tayọ gbèdéke ohun tí a mọ obìnrin mọ̀ láwùjọ Yorùbá. Iṣẹ́ yìí ṣàmúlò ìtúpalẹ̀ ajẹmo-fíìmù gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọgbọ́n ìwádìí, tíọ́rì ìṣègbèfábo la lò láti ṣòdiwọ̀n fún àtúpalẹ̀.
