Exploring the Factors Responsible for Teachers Turnover in Private Secondary Schools in Lagos State
The study examined the factors responsible for teachers turnover in private secondary schools in Lagos State Education District V. Data were collected using questionnaire from all approved private secondary schools in Lagos State Education District V using multistage sampling technique. However, four hypotheses were tested and the results obtained showed that salary structure significantly affect teachers turnover in private secondary schools in Lagos State Education District V; school location significantly affect teachers turnover in private secondary schools in Lagos State Education District V; workload significantly affect teachers turnover in private secondary schools in Lagos State Education District V; working conditions significantly affect teachers turnover in private secondary schools in Lagos State Education District V. The study recommends that to reduce turnover intention of teachers, school administrators should provide teachers with a working environment with less stress, that enhance the development and maintenance of teachers. Also, private school management should address the issue high workload, whereas there is under payment of teachers.
