Current Research

Human Security and technological Development in Nigeria

Research Details

Science and technology can only thrive in a peaceful and friendly environment. Current threats to human security in the areas of insurgency in the North East, Kidnapping and Pipeline Vandalism in the Southern Part of Nigeria prompted this study. This study aimed at looking at looking at human security and technological development in Nigeria. The study intends to cover six Geo-political regions of the country.The report being developed is divided into four part. The first part provides various definitions or meaning of Human Security from different researchers. The second part dealt with six identified focal areas of Human Security namely: job security, food security, shelter security, security for life and property, The third part looked at the Human Security and Technological Development in Nigeria. The study suggests that immediate and emergency situation should include; massive importation of food items like rice and the staple food items for internally displaced persons and people who are one way or the other incapacitated or vulnerable due to war situation or natural disaster. The fourth part suggests possible solutions to the identified Human Security areas, based on relevant Human Right Policy of the United Nations.
