Dr. Rasheed Olawale Azeez stands at the forefront of Human Resource Management (HRM) in Nigeria, leveraging his extensive academic background and professional experience to drive innovation and excellence in the field. Residing in Lagos, Dr. Azeez is a lecturer in the Department of Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management at Lagos State University (LASU) and currently, an Assistant Director at the university’s Career Development Centre. His academic journey is a testament to his dedication, having earned a Ph.D. in Human Resource Management, an MSc in Human Resources and Industrial Relations, and a BSc in Political Science from LASU.
Dr. Azeez's career is marked by a blend of academic rigor and practical application. He has served as an HR Generalist at GreenExperience Nigeria Limited and as a Postdoctoral HR Fellow at FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc, where he supported HRBPs and COEs in delivering value-adding services to the business through research by gathering and analyzing data. His teaching portfolio at Lagos State University (LASU) spans both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, covering subjects such as HR Metrics and Analytics, Talent Management, and Advanced Occupational Health and Safety Issues.
A prolific researcher, Dr. Azeez has contributed significantly to the academic community through numerous publications and conference presentations at both local and international conferences such as the Johns Hopkins University’s School of Public Health in the US, University of Cape Town Business School in South Africa, University of Nairobi in Kenya, University of Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania, Makerere University Business School in Uganda, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana amongst others. His research interests are focused on understanding people’s health and safety issues, well-being, wellness, creativity, and the impacts of emerging technologies on HRM. He has been awarded multiple research and travel grants, notably from the Tanzanian Government, Johns Hopkins University, Volvo Research Educational Foundation, Kuhne Foundation, and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), underscoring his expertise and the relevance of his work.
Dr. Azeez’s influence extends beyond academia. He has actively participated in various administrative roles at LASU, including serving as an Examination Officer and a member of the Vice Chancellor Vision Monitoring Committee. His consultancy work includes projects with HEDA Resource Centre, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc, and Swift Sense Branding Ltd., where he has provided strategic HR solutions and policy recommendations.
In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Azeez has received numerous awards, including the Award of Excellence from various associations. His commitment to education and community service is evident in his extracurricular activities, such as advising Campus Recycling Ambassadors and volunteering as a facilitator for employability training programs.
