Influence of Media Use on Sexual Behaviour of Adolescents in Ikorodu Division of Lagos

Adolescents use media as a source of information and social interactions. They now have access to musical videos, TV adverts, romantic movies and networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Instagram and others. The internet, in particular, opens free access to negative information. Thus, media in terms of their portrayal and coverage have the capacity to exert some influence on adolescents in their attitudes and sexual behavior. Since adolescents are vibrant and vigorous users of the information broadcast in the media, there is concern about the relationship between media use and the possible effect of it on adolescents sexual attitudes and behaviour. This is what the present study focuses on. Descriptive survey design is adopted for the research in progress.
