Does Twitter Predict Elections? A Systematic Review of Sentiment Analysis Models for Predicting Elections Using Twitter Data

Introduction: With the proliferation of data on different social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, individuals find them as a place to express their ideas, opinions, attitudes, thoughts and give their reactions on a trending or issue of interest to them without any reservation or fear of being held responsible for their actions. Gaining insights from this enormous data becomes an essential area of interest to managers, governmental bodies, owner of companies, politicians and individuals in order to make progressive decisions, improve their products satisfaction and to meet their customers complaints in order to improve sales and to make the necessary profits. Users are given the privilege to express their opinions freely through text, images or videos uploaded on their timelines which are usually in any format of choice which will require proper restructuring and cleaning in order to make sense from it.Aim: The aim of the study is to determine how Twitter data are used to predict election with machine learning techniques. Methodology: PRISMAS techniques will be used to extract relevant articles.
