Topic: Molecular Characterization And Identification Of Mosquito Species
Description:
Mosquitoes hare regarded as the most deadliest animals in the world; because they are vectors of human diseases including malaria, elephantiasis, chikungunya, dengue and many others. These mosquito species includes Anopheles species which have been well identified and characterized; while there is gap of knowledge on Culex species in Nigeria. The ongoing research intents to identify and characterize effective vectors and their ecology and importance in disease transmission.

Adoption of hybrid Solar - fish dryer for improved fish processing and sustainable livelihoods in Nigeria
Food produce and products are being loss in enormous quantity due to due to deterioration, pests and diseases. Insects pests account for high quantity of damage and most often render produce/ harvests less attractive and consequently diminish their values. Fish handling handling and processing is not spare of insect pests attacks also. Traditional preservation techniques adopted by fish handlers includes smoking, sun-drying, and oven drying but all come with their attendant problems such as depletion of forest resources, fluctuating weather conditions and high consumption of petroleum products. Therefore there is need to look at renewable energy source that will be cost effective, available all year round and be generally acceptable with less effect on the quality and also reduce incidence of pests infestation. The main objective of the research is to evaluate the performance of hybrid solar dryers at reducing post harvest fish losses while increasing economic gains and reducing depletion of forest resources.
