Dr. Oseni Taiwo AFISI is the current Ag. Head of Department. He was Convener of both the Karl Popper for Africa International Conference (28-31 March 2019) and the UNESCO (MOST) Syndicated Workshop (29-30 March 2019). His areas of competence include logic, Political Philosophy and Philosophy of science with special interest in Karl Popper’s Critical Rationalism. His most recent 2020 article is “Re-echoing the Conservatism in Karl Popper’s Piecemeal Engineering”, published in Studia Philosophica Wratislaviensi, University of Wrocław, Poland. He had his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Philosophy from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He later proceeded to the University of Canterbury, New Zealand where he obtained a Ph.D. degree in philosophy. He was a visiting academic to the Australian National University, Canberra, ACT, Australia in 2011. He has attended several conferences and has published widely in highly revered journals.
He is the editor, Karl Popper and Africa: Knowledge, Politics and Development (Forthcoming). He is author of several articles in critical rationalism that address socio-political issues and scientific development in 21st Century Africa. Dr Afisi is the editor-in-chief of LASU Journal of Philosophy. He is the editor of LASU Journal of Humanities.
