Oseni Taiwo Afisi is a Professor of Philosophy at Lagos State University. His primary research interest is in Critical Rationalism. He has contextualized this interest in various areas of Philosophy, such as Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Computing, Logic, Political Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion, and African Philosophy. In 2023, he won an Institutional Based Research (IBR) grant from the Tertiary Educational Trust Fund (TETFUND). He won a grant from the Karl Popper Charitable Trust, the United Kingdom in 2018 and another grant from the UNESCO Abuja office in 2019 to organize the Karl Popper for Africa International Conference (28-31 March 2019) and the UNESCO (MOST) Syndicated Workshop (29-30 March 2019) respectively. He has attended several conferences and has published widely in highly revered journals. He is the founder of Karl Popper Critical Dialogue Group, Lagos; a Member of the Karl Popper Foundation, Klagenfurt, Austria; a Professional member of, the Philosophers Association of Nigeria; and a member of Theatre 15 Alumni group, University of Lagos. His latest edited volume is Karl Popper and Africa: Knowledge, Politics and Development (2021). Prof. Afisi is the current Director of Special Interventions, at Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos, Nigeria. He was Head of the Department of Philosophy (March 2019-October 2021), Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos, Nigeria.
