Topic: RESEARCH ON EMILE ZOLA (Le Naturalisme ) And The 19th Century French Literature. Research On The Teaching Of French Grammar In Nigerian Universities At 200 Levels
Description:
Observation of
grammatical rules and principles is important in any standard communication in
any given language. French as a language is taught and learnt in many universities
in Nigeria and students studying this language come to the Nigeria French
Language Village for LIP at their 300 levels.
In NFLV, grammar is taught based on the programme of
course for 300 level, with the assumption that they have covered enough ground
on French grammar at the 200 level. But this is not always the case, it is
disturbing in most cases to discover that many students do not even t now basic
things they supposed to have known in 200 level.

Teaching of French Grammar in Nigerian Universities at 200 Levels

disturbing in most cases to discover that many students do not even t now basic
things they supposed to have known in 200 level.
The aim and objectives of this research is therefore
to find out, what and how these students were taught French Grammar in their
universities.
Is the programme of grammar at 200 level relevant or
suitable for that level?
If not, the
research will suggest a reformulation of the 200 level programme in grammar, to
match the 300 level programme which should be above 200 level, thus there will
be a continuity in the leaning of French grammar.
The research will examine/consult the syllabus of some universities in French Grammar.
Some courses/teachings are going to be observed and some questions will be raised both for students and lecturers as the contents of the programme (relevancy, adequacy, affordability and how achievable).
The expected result (confirmation or denial) on the adequacy, affordability Of the programme will direct steps to take in the teaching of French Grammar during LIP year, the 300 level.
This will contribute in no small means to the enrichment, advantage and benefit of LIP in NFLV, Badagry and the development of teaching of French language in the country as a whole.
