Biography

Professor Adeleke Ayoola ADENIYI obtained his B.Sc. (Hons.) degree Chemistry (Ibadan) in 1983, M.Sc. Inorganic Chemistry (Ibadan) in 1986 and PhD Chemistry (Ibadan) in 1990. He joined Lagos State University (LASU) in 1988 where he became a Professor of Chemistry in 2005. Prof. Adeniyi’s field of research includes syntheses of metal-organic complexes (potential anticancer agents and contrast agents in magnetic resonance imaging) and development of methods for the analysis and monitoring of endocrine disrupting compounds – heavy metals, phthalate esters and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in water systems, soil and food. He is accomplished in his field with a number of scholarly papers in inorganic and environmental chemistry. He has been involved in a number of environmental audit and assessment projects particularly in the Ogun State axis of Nigeria, as well as in some key environmental projects sponsored by the South African Agricultural and Medical Research Councils in the Limpopo province, South Africa.
Professor Adeniyi is a Fellow, Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria . He is also a Public Analyst.
Professor Adeniyi has also occupied some administrative positions in LASU including Head, Department of Chemistry, Director, Centre for Environmental Studies and Sustainable Development (CESSED) and Chairman, Task-force on Faculty of Science Part Time programs.
