Application of UTAUT to understand librarians attitude to using Artifitial Inteligence
Introduction
The incorporation of Artificial
Intelligence (AI) in libraries gives room to opportunities for improved
information services. However, librarians' attitudes towards AI adoption are crucial
to its successful implementation. This study applies the Unified Theory of
Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) to examine librarians' attitudes
towards AI.
Aims and Objectives
This study aims to examine
librarians' attitudes towards AI adoption using the UTAUT model. The objectives
are to: examine the impact of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social
influence, and facilitating conditions on librarians' intention to use AI; and
identify possible barriers to its adoption.
Methodologies
A survey research design will be employed, data will be gathered from Librarians with a questionnaire developed based on the UTAUT model. The data collected will be analyzed using: descriptive statistics to Calculate means, frequencies, and percentages to describe librarians' demographic characteristics and correlation analysis to examine the relationships between UTAUT constructs.
Expected Result
The study expects to provide
valuable insights into the factors influencing librarians' adoption of AI. The
findings will highlight the impact of UTAUT constructs in shaping librarians'
behavioral intention to use AI, informing strategies for effective AI
implementation.
Contribution to Knowledge
This study will contribute to the
understanding of AI adoption in libraries, informing strategies to promote
effective use. The findings will add to the existing body of knowledge on UTAUT
and AI adoption, providing practical implications for library administrators
and policymakers on the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for improved
information services.
