Description: My research is in the area of design and production of engineering . A machine is made up of various components , links and linkages for the purpose of doing work. However, these components or linkages must posses certain mechanical and metallographical properties in order to avoid failure. In some cases, some components do not have the required properties hence the need to apply some certain treatments hot or cold. My interest in this regard is look into various properties of engineering materials for the design and production of machine components using locally sourced raw materials.

Investigating the Mechanical Properties of Water Hyacinth-Aluminum polypropylene composite as reinforcement in Engineering Materials
Water hyacinth with scientific name - Eichhorniacrassifies is a free flow aquatic plant, Padmanabham et al 2016 mostly found in tropical and sub-topical parts of the world, especially in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Almost all the waters e.g. lagoons and stagnant waters in the southern part of West Africa and Nigeria in particular are covered with the plant at certain times of the year. Among various natural fibres that are easily available to mankind, water hyacinth is one of the cheapest fibres, which has not been systematically explored so far as reinforcement material in engineering design. Today, studies are ongoing on exploiting this fibre with a view to investigating and evaluating their physico-mechanical and thermal properties. Apart from exploiting the use of this weed, we would be solving a big maritime seasonal problems caused through the blockage of water ways causing a lot of impediments to water transport on rivers and lagoons nationwide.
