The research seeks to explore the potency of an indigenous pedagogical approach in improving students' performance and attitudes towards mathematics problem-solving. The indigenous pedagogical approach integrates students' cultures, real-world contexts, and technology into teaching and learning to connect contents to the immediate environment of the learners and uses practices and beliefs in the cultures of the students to make learning meaningful and improve learning outcomes. Guided by the mixed-method design, the study aims to investigate the potency of indigenous teaching approach in Lagos, Nigeria, with a particular focus on their impact on students' performance in mathematics and their attitudes towards the subject. By adopting a nuanced and contextualised approach, this research endeavours to contribute to the decolonisation of education, especially in STEM subjects, highlighting the significance of indigenous knowledge systems in shaping teaching and learning practices. Ultimately, the study's findings will inform policy and pedagogical reforms, providing a platform for the development of more inclusive and culturally responsive teaching approaches.
