Guided by the mixed-method design, the study aims to investigate the potency of indigenous teaching approach in Lagos, Nigeria, with a particular focus on their impact on students' performance in mathematics and their attitudes towards the subject. By adopting a nuanced and contextualised approach, this research endeavours to contribute to the decolonisation of education, especially in STEM subjects, highlighting the significance of indigenous knowledge systems in shaping teaching and learning practices. Ultimately, the study's findings will inform policy and pedagogical reforms, providing a platform for the development of more inclusive and culturally responsive teaching approaches.
