Topic: Contraceptive, Antihypertensive, Antidiabetic And Anti-obesity Activities Of Saccharium Officinarium Stem And Chasmanthera Dependens Leaf Extracts In Rats
Description:
The research is aimed to determine the antifertility activity of the stem of Saccharium officinarium L. and Chasmanthera dependens leaf extracts and to evaluate their anti-obesity, antihypertensive and antidiabetic activities.
The extracts could possess novel phytotherapeutic agents which could serve as contraceptives, as well as be useful in the management of unmet medical needs of diabetes, obesity and blood pressure complications

Modulatory effects of gallic acid on cyclophosphamide induced ovarian failure in female wistar rats
Modulatory effects of
gallic acid on cyclophosphamide induced ovarian failure in female wistar rats
Assessment of the effect
of varied doses of cyclophosphamide on ovarian primordial follicle population;
Assessment of effect of gallic acid pre-treatment on cyclophosphamide induced
ovarian toxicity; Assessment of effect of gallic acid post-treatment on cyclophosphamide
induced ovarian toxicity. Measurement of various markers of oxidative stress (Determination of Malondialdehyde level in the
ovary-marker of lipid peroxidation, determination of hydrogen peroxide
generated in the ovary); Antioxidant enzymes assay ( Determination of catalase
activity, superoxide dismutase activity, GPx activity, GST activity and glutathione, GSH levels etc) and determination
of serum reproductive hormonal levels- Hormonal assay (Luteinizing hormone,
follicle stimulating hormone, prolactin, progesterone, oestrogen) using Enzyme
linked immuno-absorbent assay (ELISA) method. Immunochemistry (i.e immunohistochemical evaluation of INOS, COX-2,
Caspase-9 and caspase-3) and Histological analysis (Histological
examination of the ovary to determine primordial follicle population).
Experimental animal: female wistar rats
