The Lagos State University Management, on Wednesday, 2nd August, 2017, received kind donations from the representatives of Late Professor Ismail Ayinla Balogun’s Family.

The Late Professor I.A. Balogun, in his life time, had bequeathed to the University a parcel of land situated and lying at Plot 6, Block 25, Lagos South West GRA Residential Scheme, Lagos State, meant for development by the University into a Research Centre for the study of Arabic and Islamic Studies, and books and publication that were to be placed in the proposed Research Centre for Arabic and Islamic Studies.

The University Management also noted that the Foundation established in the name of Late Prof. Balogun Conduct activities in the following Four thematic areas (i) Annual Ramadan Lecture in the University; (ii) Strengthening of the Economic Capacity of Final Year Muslim Students of the University; (iii) Community Service: economic empowerment of widows through non interest loans, interest in reduction of high maternal mortality rate in Lagos State through proposed partnership with Lagos State Government, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation; and (iv) Sponsorship/support of researches of students in line with the objectives of the Foundation.

While appreciating the generous donations, Management re-affirmed the University’s desire to immortalise and resonate names of individuals who had left indelible mark(s) in the University, adding that, the University was ready to partner with Professor I. A. Balogun Foundation in the realization of the Centre for Arabic and Islamic Studies.
