Dr. (Mrs.) Lateefah Moyosore DUROSINMI
PhD, Inorganic Chemistry, Council Member, Lagos State University
Dr Mrs. Lateefah Moyosore-Oluwa Durosinmi, (nee Williams), was born in Lagos on the 7th, July 1957. She had her Primary and Secondary education at Patience Modern Girls School, Olowogbowo and Girls Secondary School, Bariga, Lagos State, respectively. She was at the Federal School of Science, Victoria Island for her Advanced level programme between 1974 and 1976. She then proceeded to University of Ibadan, Ibadan in 1976, from where she graduated in 1979 with a B.SC (Hons) degree in Chemistry. She had a Master of Science degree in Analytical Chemistry from the same University in October 1986. In 1992, she obtained a PhD degree in Inorganic Chemistry from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
Her main research interests overlap Inorganic Coordination Chemistry and Analytical/Environmental Chemistry.
Dr Lateefah Durosinmi started her working career as an Analytical Chemist II in the Quality Control Laboratory of the Lagos State Water Management Board, Iju Water Works, Lagos State between 1980-1981 after the compulsory National Youths Service Corps Scheme in Kwara State in 1980. In 1981, she moved to Ibadan. Between 1981 and 1985, she taught Advanced level Chemistry at Saint Anne’s School, Ibadan,
Dr. Durosinmi took appointment with the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile- Ife in 1989 in the Department of Chemistry. She is presently a Senior Lecturer and also the Acting Dean of Students, (DSA) Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. She has been directing the affairs at the Division of Student Affairs, Obafemi Awolowo University since February 2008
She was a Faculty of Science Representative at the Centre for Gender and Social Policy Studies, Obafemi Awolowo University and participated actively in gender-related University assignments such as the production of the Gender Policy Document for the University.
Dr Mrs Durosinmi was a Lagos State Government Scholar from 1976 to 1979. She won a Postgraduate Fellowship Award of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife between 1987 and 1989 and Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Loughborough University of Technology, Leics, United Kingdom, 1994/1995.
She has published scientific articles in Local and International Journals, Technical Reports and also presented several papers on Islam, Women, Youths and Children at Local, National and International levels.
Dr Mrs Durosinmi has attended Conferences/Workshops in Science, Strategic Planning /Leadership and other fields. She has also attended and participated in Islamic-biased Conferences at both Local, National and International levels.
She participated at HERS-SA Academy 2010, Cape Town, South Africa and the Senior Academic Leadership Training, (SALT), 2013, University of Ghana, Accra, Ghana.
She has organized/coordinated Leadership Training programmes, Capacity Building Workshops for women and Youths.
She is a member of the Chemical Society of Nigeria.
She was a member of the Academic Planning Committee, Crescent University, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Dr. Durosinmi has made her mark as a woman leader in the country with different leadership positions, culminating in her election as the National Amirah (President) of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria, (FOMWAN), between 2005 and 2009.
She is currently the National Chairperson, FOMWAN National Education Committee and Executive member of the Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Community, Ile-Ife.
Dr. Durosinmi was the National Vice-President, Obafemi Awolowo Muslim Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA) between 2004 and 2007 and President, Association of Muslim Professionals, (AMP) Osun State from 1996 to 1999. She took active part in the activities of Muslim League for Accountability, (MULAC). Dr. LM Durosinmi is an Adviser/ Matron to many Organizations and Student Associations.
She is actively involved in the provision of scholarships to pupils/ students and economic empowerments of women through a Foundation, Lateefah Moyosore Durosinmi Foundation, (LMD Foundation), which was founded in 2010.
Dr Mrs Durosinmi was honoured with a Honorary Chieftaincy title of Afimojoye Adinni of Ife Land in 2004 by the Ife Muslim Community.
Dr Lateefah Durosinmi works for the upliftment of women dignity. She has through her activities improved the education and intellectual development of women, youths and children through capacity building workshops, youth camp programmes, etc.
